5 July 2009     Big Walk Forward 2009

The Big Walk Forward - London is a brilliant opportunity to discover what our great capital has to offer on foot whilst raising money for your local deaf children's society or NDCS.

You can choose between a five-mile and 10-mile walk, depending on how fit you’re feeling and you can simply ask everyone you know to sponsor you and your family for taking part.

Both will take in some of London’s most memorable sights, including the Houses of Parliament, the Millennium Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral.

This year you’ll find us in a brand new place, the fantastic Potters Field Park, along the River Thames. What better way to start and finish the walk than in the shadow of Tower Bridge! This is not just a sponsored walk but a great day out which the whole family can enjoy with lots of fun activities taking place at the finish to round off the day. Ned the Bear, of course, will also be attending to kick off the celebrations.

12 - 13 September 2009     Thames Festival

The Mayor’s Thames Festival is a spectacular, free celebration of London and its river. Taking place over the middle weekend in September between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge, the festival brings Londoners together in the very heart of the capital to dance, make sculptures, listen to music, watch movies, drink, eat, enjoy performances, sing, play on the beach, sail on the Thames and party in the streets.

18 - 19 September 2009 Maggie's Night Hike

Bigger and better than ever before, why not rally together friends, family and colleagues to join the Fifth annual London Night Hike in 2009?

We are seeking 2,000 people to support Maggie’s and gain exclusive access to some of the capital’s most incredible architecture - simply
register online today.
Once again the Opening Party scene will be set outside City Hall with the stunning backdrop of Tower Bridge and the London skyline – you’ll be allocated a start time as due to popular demand for the event, there will be multiple starts for the first time to ease congestion in the early stages of the route.

Your overnight adventure will start with an exclusive night time flight on the London Eye as we unveil the city you’ll be about to discover. Not only will you be treated to an insight into old favourites such as Royal Geographical Society and Horse Guards, but also a visit to Fulham Palace for the first time, as well as champagne on the balcony at the IET: Savoy Place to see the sunrise.
As always you’ll be rewarded with bacon butties (or a vegetarian equivalent) when you cross the finish line back outside City Hall in the early hours of the morning.

With plenty of entertainment along the way this truly is a festival on foot and unique way to spend a Friday night in the capital raising money for people affected by cancer.
Last year, a record 1,500 people took to the streets of late night London to support Maggie’s walking a brand new 20 mile Night Hike route through the capital. More than £500,000 was raised to support Maggie’s existing network of centres across the UK and participants saw for themselves how vital this support is when they visited the London Maggie’s Centre en route.

26 - 27 September 2009 Rat Race 2009

This is your opportunity to see the Greatest City on Earth from a TOTALLY fresh perspective.

The inaugural London Rat Race 2007 saw the urban adventure challenge travel across 14 London boroughs, with unprecedented access to some of the most famous venues in the UK and an eclectic mixture of Rat Race adventure racing, adrenalin and all round action the length and breadth of the city. We came back for more in 08 and now it’s year 3 of the London Rat Race - arguably the greatest urban adventure challenge in the World! This is a roller coaster ride through the coolest city on the planet; join us in the home of the (original) Rat Race as we turn London into one giant adventure playground in the name of sport.

From an event village in central London hold onto your hats, for this Metropolis is about to be RATIFIED!

2 October 2009 Byte Night

The original Byte Night in London has been an established date in the IT professional’s diary for over 10 years and now attracts over 300 participants annually.

Each year, people from the IT and business community give up their bed for one night to experience a little of what it might be like to be homeless. The money they raise helps Action for Children tackle the root causes of youth homelessness and gets thousands of children and young people off the streets and into secure accommodation with education and training opportunities.

This year, why not join us? You can participate either as an individual or with your own team. You’ll be in good company – Byte Night sleepers range from systems developers to CIOs and business managers to marketers who regularly return each year for a rewarding and memorable experience
