Cultural Quarter
When people think of culture and performance arts in London, many aren't aware of much beyond the bright lights of the West End. But a number of areas are slowly developing their very own arts and entertainment scene - none more so than London Bridge.
No longer a place in which you might work or visit and return home when the day is through, London Bridge now has a small yet diverse range of theatres and live venues to draw the evening crowds.

The Unicorn Theatre
The Unicorn Theatre is a specially-designed theatre for young people aged 0-19 years. The flagship cultural centre of excellence comprises a 340–seat main auditorium plus additional smaller theatres, studios, workshops, a dedicated education centre, public space and café. Activities at the venue include amazing quality shows, story-telling festivals, and regular story-telling events, special one-off events including talks and demonstrations by visiting international theatre directors and professional educationists and book launches and talks by children’s authors.

Shunt Lounge and Vaults
Shunt is a collective of 10 artists who started out creating large-scale performance events in unexpected, abandoned or derelict buildings throughout London. Their current home is the Shunt Lounge, a sprawling labyrinth of railway arches under London Bridge station.
Open every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening, each week is curated by a different Shunt artist. One day or three month membership is available.

Southwark Playhouse
Top quality performances and one of the most atmospheric venues in the capital come together at the Southwark Playhouse. The theatre company was founded in 1993 by Juliet Alderdice, Tom Wilson & Mehmet Ergen and have only recently moved into their new 150 seat home in the railway arches beneath London Bridge station. 'Airline style' ticket pricing means that at least a third of all tickets cost just £7 - quite a bargain in this day and age.

The Scoop at More London
Although events occur in The Scoop at More London all years round it is principally the summer when it really comes alive. A sunken amphiteatre beside the Thames, next to City Hall, The Scoop at More London hosts a free festival season between June and September. Each month is put aside for either free Music, Theatre or Film, drawing huge crowds on warm summer evenings.
