How to get to London Bridge
Get the latest travel news and tube works upgrades

At recent Team London Bridge events we have covered a number of transport plans and issues. One frequently voiced query is regarding the progress of the tube upgrade plan and disruption to services while works take place.

Updating the oldest underground railway in the world while it carries more people than ever is undoubtedly a huge challenge that will cause inevitable disruption. Most tube users are sympathetic to this, as long as up-to-date and accurate information is provided so they can plan their travel around it.

Transport for London has been working hard to provide the best way of communicating this information and their online resources offer some very useful features.

On their Tube Upgrade Plan page you can:

- Set up travel alerts to your phone
- Use the simple Works Calendar to plan your journey around closures
- Check on progress for each line
- Subscribe to the weekend closure email service
- Get live travel news

And if you use their Journey Planner service it plans your route around any closures using live travel information.

News for our local service at London Bridge is positive. Signalling upgrade works are now complete on the Jubilee Line meaning we'll get more frequent trains from July 2011 onwards.

The Northern Line will undergo an extensive refurb 2012-2014 which will decrease journey times by nearly 20%, and while weekend closures will effect the whole line (also check for some part closures this August), we'll know about them in plenty of time to make other plans.
