Amazing scenes at More London today

The transatlantic tunnel linking London and New York has finally been completed after years of speculation as to where its exact location was. The huge drilling machine emerged in More London on Tuesday 20th May to the amazement of passers by....

Very few people know of the existence of a secret transatlantic tunnel running between London and New York. The brainchild of an eccentric Victorian engineer, Alexander Stanhope St George, it was never completed and St George died, bankrupt and insane, his life's work abandoned. Over a century later, the engineer's great-grandson, Paul St George, discovered the location of the tunnel as well as his ancestor's plans for an invention called a Telectroscope: an astonishing device allowing people on one side of the world to see right through the tunnel from one end to the other… Get along to More London Riverside from Friday 23rd May to discover what it's all about.

The Telectroscope is brought to the area by Artichoke, the company that brought The Sultan's Elephant to London in 2006.  Its latest project is inspired by Victorian dreamers: men who imagined the impossible, from suspension bridges to metal steamships, from canals through the countryside to viaducts through mountain ranges.  Now it is collaborating with the artist Paul St George to create a pair of telectroscopes that will be open to the public in London and New York, providing an extraordinary window across the world…
