Local employees find out more about London Bridge ![]() On a clear, crisp January evening, 20 local employees braved the winter chill to join our 'Introduction to London Bridge' walking tour. Led by Alan Read, a London Blue Badge Guide of many years experience, the group enjoyed a 1 1/2 hour walk around some of our famous and lesser known sites. We learned about how 'London Bridge is Falling Down' came about and heard tales of Southwark when it was the Soho of its day! Most of the group agreed they preferred modern day London Bridge although by the sounds of it some may have been keen to visit the Anchor Brewery in its heyday... The walk started at the Scoop at More London, then on to Hay's Galleria, past the site of the original London Bridge, to Southwark Cathedral, the Golden Hinde, The Clink and Borough Market, before taking in the 17th century delights of The George in Borough and finishing on St Thomas' Street at Guys Hospital. Feedback included; 'thank you for organising last night’s London Bridge walk, it was most enjoyable, and I’ve come away with a number of places I want to go back and explore further'. The next walk is scheduled for Weds 26th March at 6pm - to book a place email marketing@londonbridgebid.co.uk Look out for more walks organised by the London Bridge BID Company throughout 2008 on this website.
