Big Dance

Londoners and visitors to the capital are being invited to take part in Big Dance 2008, a week-long, city wide celebration of dance in all its forms, backed by the Mayor of London.

From 5-13 July, Londoners and visitors alike will be able to watch or take part in a wide range of dance, at established and more unusual venues, reflecting London's different communities, as well as its status as a world centre for dance.

Big Dance 2008 will highlight the enormous range of dance taking place every day of the week in London - from the classically trained excellence of its ballet schools and its cutting edge contemporary dance companies, to local salsa and ballroom groups, to aerobic dancing in health clubs and the dance clubs that are packed out at weekends.

The first Big Dance in 2006 culminated in an event on Trafalgar Square, where a new world record was set by 752 people dancing 44 dance styles simultaneously to a single music track! Similarly quirky events are planned for Big Dance 2008 - venues in London Bridge area TBC.
