Bermondsey Street Festival Last September many hundreds of people mingled in the warmth of Tanner Street Park to enjoy the first-ever Bermondsey Street Festival – with organisers calling it a “fantastic day”. Andrew Logan, the famous sculptor and performance artist, cut the ribbon to open the festival and an estimated 1,000 people – including the designer and Festival patron Zandra Rhodes – turned up to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere provided by the live music, competitions, tennis tournaments, food, art and craft stalls. The most popular event was the dog show, with over twenty entrants in the pedigree class. The winner was announced by the Mayor of Southwark, Cllr Bob Skelly who presented a ‘Holly&Lil’ collar as a prize. This year the event promises to be even more fun-packed. Come along on Saturday 13th September from 12 midday and enjoy the festivities until late. Location: Bermondsey Street Event Date: Saturday, 13 September 2008 More >> |
